I need to find a electric or gas scooter, or a gas bike. I was wondering if the chinesse cheapy ones on ebay were fine. Such as. http://cgi.ebay.com/KIDS-YELLOW-49CC-GAS-POCKET-MINI-DIRT-BIKE-OFF-ROAD-50_W0QQitemZ380031419165QQihZ025QQcategoryZ75211QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Has anyone had an experience with those. Or should i just go with a known brand. Please suggest bikes and scooters with links. Thanks. I plan on buying used. My budget is around 300-400-500

Thanks, and if the ebay items finish. I will post new links. THANKS!
Okay Thanks you guys.
So looks like I am getting a Gas Scooter.
It does not have to be super fast. I plan on just using to commute for like groceries and school etc. etc. What are some good websites and brands I should look into? Also, I live in California. Is there any license I need?
Also, I am seeing that the gas engines need 2 cycle oil as well? Is their a certain ratio or should it say with the scooter? Where can I find 2 cycle oil? Suggestions?
Thanks everyone. Sorry if these are stupid questions.
I'm 13 yrs old. Turning 14 soon. I am 5' 4'' and 100lbs. Thanks
Search ebay for Kymco scooters I noticed last night there were several below dealer ship price. Kymco is the largest scooter manufactuer in the world very high quality and very resonable price. The only decent electric I know about is made by ZAP. You will just have search the web. It is a very good scooter just hard to find.
I'm thinking about getting a gas powered scooter, but I have no idea where to start.
I'm looking for one that is the basis of a street scooter, kindof like the one Adam Sandler used in Lean on me (I'm not sure if that's the actual title)
Anyway I'm looking for one that can go at least 25mph, be street legal, be able to go on dirt/gravel roads, and have good brakes. Portability would be a plus.
Anyway any ideas would greatly be appreciated.
Stay with Adam Sandler…
I live in Wash. DC area and go to school about 3 miles away, but the metro does not go there so I am looking into investing in a Moped scooter…
How much do they cost? ( iwant a 50 cc one)
What is the Gas mileage?
Do you need insurance? (if so how much does it cost?)
Do I buy online or in person?
How long do they last?
Is it safe driving in traffic?
Overall, is it worth it?
Lots of questions which is good. Scooters are a great way to get around.
Cost? = $1200-$1800 for new. Used can be less
Gas Mileage? = 85-110mpg
Insurance? = Depends on your state check with the DMV there
Where to buy? = In person! Never on-line with scooters or you will get either a bad deal or a poorly made scoot.
How long lasting? = If you take good care and do regular maintenance, they will last a long time
Save driving in traffic? = As long as you are highly visible and learn how to lean/turn correctly as not to turn wide into other lanes.
Is it worth it? = I think it is. I love the savings, i love driving scoots, and they are very versatile.
Hope this helps!!
I am looking for a 250cc scooter for commuting to work and saving money on gas. I have heard stories about scooters not coming with a warranty or spare parts, I don’t mind paying a few extra bucks to get something good and reliable. What is the best 250cc scooter to buy?
The most important thing you can do when buying a scooter is do your homework. The devil is always in the details and this is always located on the warranty page of each manufacturer/dealer.
If you are looking for a $6500 scooter than I would say look at Vespa (then again you might as well buy a car).
If you are looking to get a deal and not have the scooter fall apart after a week then I would strongly recommend a Cheetah Touring 250cc. Last time I checked they were around $2300. They are have a really good quality control process (they even test drove my scooter before they shipped it) and they give a 2 year parts & labor warranty. The warranty inlcudes 24 hour roadside assistance (thankfully I have never had to use it, but it’s good to know its there).
I have had my Touring for over a year and a half and never had a problem. My boyfriend has a yamaha and he just put it on Craigslist to he can buy a Cheetah and have some money left over (to take me out of course :).
the one I'm talking about looks like a normal scooter that you see litttle kids riding but this one is power by gas,it does not have a seat you just stand on it.
yes
With gas prices going higher and higher, I am just wondering if there are more and more now there? Also, are gas prices going up just as much as in the states?
In BC there has been a small increase of motor scooters. The problem with motor scooters is passenger vehicle drivers here are not accustomed to motorbikes thus driving a motorbike here is dangerous.
As for gas prices. They are also going up in the US as well. Americans do pay less for gas as taxes in Canada are much higher. For example today I could buy gas across the border (10 minutes away) for 4.35 US per gallon. That is equivilant to about 1.16 per litre. Gas at our pumps are 1.42 per litre. That is 26 cents more per litre. If it wasn't for the lineup… i would do it all the time.
