Have you tried eBay?

If you’re not opposed to owning a used scooter, eBay might be a good option for you.

There are almost 300 scooters on eBay right now: http://motors.listings.ebay.com/Powersports_Scooters-Mopeds_W0QQfcclZ1QQfclZ3QQfrppZ50QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ3QQsacatZ6720QQsbrsrtZlQQsocmdZListingItemList

A lot of them are a little more expensive than what you’re looking for, but some are not.

I don’t know much about scooters, but check out the ones on eBay and see what you think.

I am 12 years old. I really want a gas scooter, moped, or an ATV. my price range is $200+ but not much more than 1000. I have no clue where I could buy one… PLEASE list some websites in the Cincinnati area. Thanks.

Does anyone know if there is much money to be made recycling cans, bottles, newspapers, etc? If so how much? I’ve been working at a Gas Station part time for a few years now and when I first started I saw this person(he looked like a homeless person) on a scooter pulling his small carts of cans, bottles, etc,he usually bought $2.00 in gas for his little scooter.
A couple years back this person was driving a small old used toyota pickup truck that was full of his usually recycables and still pulling his little carts,he was buying more gas as well.
Last night I saw this person pull up driving a great big moving truck with a automatic lift on the back of it,he was
still pulling his little carts full of cans, bottles, etc. The truck did not look like a rental, the back of it was full of stuff as well. When he buys his gas he’s in a rush and I don’t get a chance to ask him questions.
Can anyone else confirm or deny how much money you can make recyling cans, bottles, etc.?

yes but you have to work really hard for it and put in allot of hours into it. Check out your local recycling laws first before you go into it or go into it in a casual basis and do it in your free time but allot of that time will be put into research and restoration to get the money.

I want to buy one of this Gas Scooters:http://www.x-tremescooters.com/gas_scooters/gas_scooters.html
and i want to know they are legal in new york and if i need a license or some registration because im 14 years old

Drivers manual, chapter 11.

Class A, over 30 miles per hour top speed, "M" motorcycle endorsement on your valid license.

Class B, 20 to 30 top speed, any class license, no endorsement needed.

Class C. Under 20. Any class, including learners permit, and the permit of junior license restrictions apply.

So, since New York law states: "You cannot drive in NYS if you are under the age of 16" and you are only 14, you have plenty of time so save up.

Added: Almost forgot, yes, they need to have a headlight, be street legal, and have a plate.

Yup. Now that you know, go do it.

What the laws for riding/driving a gas power scooter in California?

I do have a drivers liscense and im think about getting the gas powered scooter to ride to my friends houses during the summer and to school instead of driving my car.

What laws are different and what should i know before doing this?

If you mean a motorscooter, which is like a motorcycle, then you need a motorcycle license. You will ride in the lane like a car, not in the bike lane. You need insurance for most models. You can download the DMV motorcycle handbook for the laws, which are too numerous to list here (as it would be with a car).

I have to commute 70 miles one way to college during my 2 years of nursing school. I just can’t afford the gas in my car people! Then on clinicals which is even further away, up to 280 miles round trip, puts a huge strain on my budget. I need something very economical during this nursing school commitment. Which is better to get: A motorcycle or a street legal moped scooter? I don’t know what to get. All your suggestions would be great! Thanks!

Two and a half hours on the street, every school day, for two years? I would get housing nearer school.

You will *not* save money getting a scooter if you keep the car for cold/rainy days. If you are looking to save money you have to ride full time. Don’t believe me — do the math yourself, figure 60 mpg for the scooter, 30 mpg for a cage, 140 miles, $4.00 a gallon. You’ll save about $9 a day. Figure 400 days riding to school over the next two years, that is $3,600 savings. The Silverwing is $8,500 MSRP, add registration, insurance….

You don’t say what your cage is, but a lot of smaller cars get over 35 mpg highway. Trade down.

i want to buy a lil moter scooter ( the ones where you sit not stand) i spend way too much money on gas just to go to school or work or near by. i want one that can haul as$ but safe too. also if it can be as less gay as possible. i mean the shape. i like the metro ones like the european ones but i also like the ones that look like racing bikes too. PLZ HELP!
oh and also if anyone knows what 150CC really means or i guess just the CC part. is that like horse power but for bikes?

To answer your 2nd question first, the "cc" designation refers to the size of the engine in cubic centimeters. For example, a car engine in a small car may be listed as 2.2L - this just means 2,200cc. In general, the larger the engine, the faster a scooter can go, and the more gas it will consume.

Most scooters over 50cc will require you to have a motorcycle license. Many states allow for a scooter that is 50cc or less which can not exceed 30mph to be driven by anyone with a valid driver’s license.

A 125-150cc scooter will cruise in the 45-55 MPH range, with a top speed of 55-65 MPH.

I would personally stick to the following brands:

Aprilia
Bajaj
Genuine
Honda
Kymco
Piaggio
Suzuki
Vespa
Yamaha

I would also recommend you buy from a dealer who specializes in scooters or a motorcycle dealer. The brands listed above are "established" brands and should get you decent parts support and reliability.

There are also many other brands, but beware of buying anything which has a name which you have never heard of or isn’t in the list above. There are many brands of scooters out there which may look to be a good deal, but fall far short when it comes to reliability and parts support.

As far as decent scooters in the $3000 range new, you have pretty much the run of just about anything in the 50cc range. If you’re looking for a better top speed, in the 125cc range, consider the Yamaha Vino 125, Genuine Buddy 125, or Kymco People 150.

For a little more, you can get the Genuine Blur, which has a more sporty look and decent top speed, but is a bit beyond your $3000 price tag.

Also expect to spend a few hundred dollars on proper riding gear - Jacket, helmet, boots, gloves, etc…

I want to get a gas scooter from a STORE. It has to be cheap and not so loud. Does anybody know a store where I can find that? If the store also sells good electric scooter let me know too because I once had an electric scooter and it sucked! Thanks so much! * Kiss Kiss*
I want it just to ride around the neighborhood!

Pep boys sells them. They are a car parts store in NJ.
