I would like to use them to drive to stores. Up to 15 miles a day.
i would say Gas. With batteries, you don’t know how fast they can go dead, i wouldn’t even take a chance with those.
problem:
my scooter will work fine if i pull the back wheel of the ground, but if i put the scoot on the ground and hit the gas the scoot will not really go anywhere. i know the throttle cable has NOT come lose because when i hit the gas the engine does make a different sound but it almost sound like it gutless and has no compression, however when i lift the scoot up it sound great and will accelerate! it was in the shop, it has a brand new 70cc bigbore kit because i thought maybe the piston or cylinder was losing compression and it was cause the compression was only 75 when it should be 130. i have not had it tested again yet but i think it should have good compression now with a new cylinder head, cylinder, piston rings, reed valve, and new pins in the carb and new float valve in the carb. thats what the shop put in it. i took it out of the shop cause the bill was just getting bigger and bigger.
how the problem started:
i bought it used and trust me i got really screwed over! 50 kms later as i just pulled in the drive way i went to hit the gas again and the engine sounded like it had no power. i had the scoot was driving for about 20 min. it was wide open for a little bit but i only keep it wide open for 1 min or so then i ease off for about 3 min and then wide open again for 1 min. (when i say ease off i mean the throttle is about 3/4 open).
list of new parts:
-70cc athena big bore consits of : piston, cylinder, cylinder head, piston ring, piston clips, reed valve,
-carb needles
-float valve in carb
additional info:
-has 8550 kms
- when i bought it it also has a 70cc atehna big bore
- i find the exaust pipe is putting out more exaust then it should
- scooter smells like gas when you start it
what i think it might be:
i was thinking maybe a torque spring- it behind the clutch and its not the 3 little springs in the clutch its behind the clutch. if its not stiff enough it puts your scoot in a high gear which will flood the carb.
- for some reason its getting to much gas ( i think)
- the day i got the scooter home it was stalling every time i came to a stop. i adjusted air to fuel mixture on the carb and it worked great for the 50km i drove it!
thanks for any advice also what spark plug should i run in it? right now i am running a brand new NGK BR8HS
thanks
thanks ill try that. is it easy to lower the needle? ya the shop sucks they took my high performance airfilter and put a stock one on and they wont give me it back. they took the seat off for no reason and lost both bolts to anchor it.. they claim they didnt touch it. top it all of they didnt even tighten the spark plug right! and i had to wait a week - 2 weeks for each part i ordered! i will never take my scoot there again!
It’s running too rich. Drop the needle in the carb down a notch. (The screw thingy on the side is only for the idle mixture - becomes redundant when the throttle is opened). And go back to the bike shop and threaten legal action/bad publicity campaign until they get their siht together. Your other idea about the spring could be correct, as well.
How old do you have to be to ride a gas scooter in California?

i never seen a scooter with a motor, but if you live here and never seen one than i doubt they have it.
Do u think they are suitable for an 8th grader?
a motorcycle/scooter is only as dangerous as you decide to make it. Wear a helmet, don’t be stupid, watch what’s going on around you. Do that, and it’s not that dangerous
