I want to now how old you need to be to ride one of those stand up motorized (gas) scooters.
And I want to know why you couldn’t use a search engine like Google to find out. It took about three seconds to find this:
www.mopedarmy.com/wiki/Moped_laws
You can thank me later.
My son is 13 years old and thinks because the scooter is under 50 cc he can operate it in the neighborhood on the sidewalks and in the roadway.
NO YOU DO NOT NEED A LICENSE TO OPERATE THE SCOOTER ANYWHERE. BUT I WOULD ADVISE HIM THAT IT MIGHT NOT BE A GOOD IDEA TO OPERATE IT ON THE SIDEWALKS. LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES CAN GIVE THE GAURDIAN OF THE INDIVIDUAL A TICKET FOR DISTURBING THE PEACE IF IT INTERFERES WITH PEDESTRIANS ON THE SIDEWALK.
Im guessing you are talking about 49cc scooters.
The fastest one I know of is a tuned Yamaha Aerox, they can do up to 74 mp/h when tuned.
I Have been wanting a 49cc gas scooter for a long time now. My grandpa and bike and moped sellers say they are bad because it’s hard to get the parts.. Other than the parts are hard to get, what else is bad about them
thanks:)
it will break & when it do you will have wished you would have bought a name brand scoot instead
I want to buy a gas scooter from this website. Does anyone know about them?

These scooters sold on line are not working out to wheel I do not know about what he is selling but those prices are super cheap. Should there be problem there no shop to take it to and on the phone is not as good. You would be better off looking at Kymco or Hyosung and Genuine. They are quality scooters and are not any of the imported junk. Have things like 2 yr. warranty’s dealer that are there when you have problem. They are priced below Honda and the like. Kmyco is the largest scooter maker in the world.

When gas prices were high around the $3.00 mark a lot of people were considering buying scooters to transport themselves to and from work or just to get around town. I know, to date gas prices have gone down significantly, but a lot of people are still worried that gas prices will go back up. Listening to the new, the Saudisâ are everything that they can to stabilize the prices and make them go back up. So, it may be a good idea to explore the purchase of the gas scooter if just for peace of mind if and when gas prices go back up.
In terms of the best choices when buying an gas scooter, well I have three choices for you. All are very reliable and are made by very respectable dealers.
My first choice would be a Honda scooter. Now, how can you go wrong with a Honda? From cars to motorcycle Honda has worked hard to put out a great product that last. As for scooters Honda has a full line of scooters that range from 49cc scooters to their top of the line 586cc scooters. The cheaper of the scooters will put you back $2000 or more dollars and the most expensive $8900 dollars. But I am sure you will be able to find a used Honda scooter with low cc’s for much cheaper prices if these are out of your price range.
My second choice would be a Bajaj scooter. These scooters are lightweight with chassis that are easy to handle. Thinking about going green? Bajaj scooters produce very low emissions as a very high speed output of a minimum speed of 55 mph depending on the model that you purchase. On the low end these scooters will put you back in the price range of $1600 dollars and on the high end you could spend as much as $7000 dollars.
My last choice would be a Yamaha scooter. Don’t take this as being the worse out of my three picks. Yamaha scooters are on the same line as Honda. Very reliable the will keep you on the road for years to come. Their new veno model which cost around $2000 dollars gets an estimated 110 mpg. Great gas mileage. This is a 49cc liquid air cooled 4 stroke scooter that looks a lot like the vespa scooters seen on most foreign films from Europe. If you want more power and want to blow out your budget then you can go top of the line with the Yamaha Majesty scooter. This scooter cost around $6100 dollars and gets 51 mpg. Not as many mpg as the veno but it has a lot more power.
Any of these are great scooters for the money and you will not make a bad choice with any one of them.

Like a desperate Mom at xmas time, I purchased my son’s ONE wish, a gas powered scooter, from the internet. Needless to say, it lasted about 2 weeks before it needed replacement parts, and the company does not return calls or emails. I tried the manufacturer, but they have NO idea what I need, which I took straight from the parts list that came from the scooter! Needless to say i’m more than frustrated and have searched endlessly for these parts on line. The scooter is made in China and is a NS46 49cc Gas scooter. The parts required are:
2 Axes sockets (#39 & #50 on the parts list)
Adjusting Breech Block (#49 on the parts list)
Axle Tree (# 43 on the parts list)
Please, please if anbody can help me find these parts or substitutes for them i’d be forever grateful.
Thanks so much!
HI and thank you ..i’ve tried the website …and the part number search but still nothing…thanks so much for your time.
I am afraid to say it might be eaisier and cheaper to buy another of the same scooter than to get parts to repair a throw away scooter. Japanese and European brand names are that 50-100% more $’s because you are buying warranty, customer support, but above all a place to get the machine serviced, repaired and buy parts. and besides…. you meet the nicest people on a Honda.

Because of the high cost of fueling and car repairs, some people have turned to a gas scooter as an alternative form of transportation. They were first introduced to the public in the 1940’s. After a decline, they have been getting more popular since about 2000.
One of the reasons for the surge of popularity is because gas scooters have a reputation of being easy on the wallet. This is a well-deserved reputation as they get approximately fifty to seventy miles per gallon. If you know a scooter owner, you will undoubtedly hear stories of how infrequently they have to fill up the gas tank.
Other reasons for the Gas Scooters being so popular are because of the cost. Depending on where they are purchased, they are only from about $800 to $6,000. This price is very attractive to people who cannot afford a car or even a motorcycle. They can reach acceptable speeds to keep up with traffic and still get great gas mileage.
Women are a big part of the gas scooter revolution. The lightweight and maneuverability make them a very real option to getting on a motorcycle. But women are not the only ones who use them for this reason. Smaller men or those who cannot comfortably get on to or off of a motorcycle will find this a viable option. Or, if the typical motorcycle to wide to sit on for a long time, the scooter is usually narrower and will make for a more comfortable ride.
Ease of parking is another benefit to scooters. It is so compact, that parking, even tight parallel parking, is no problem for the rider of a scooter.
Those other entire reasons aside, the gas scooter is just plain fun. In very recent memory, scooters have become more of a trend in some areas than necessity. Even motorcycle groups have jumped on the bandwagon, so to speak, and have started offering safety courses and comparing models. Freedom and convince are two of the traits enjoyed by scooter owners.
Major, well-known brands like Yamaha, Suzuki and Honda manufacture the bulk of the scooters on the road today. Piaggio is also a well-known name that owns Vespa and Aprilia. These are the ones you will see on surface streets in the cities.
As we look into the future, it is easy to see that we will be sharing the road with scooters, just as we do motorcycles today. They are easy on the wallet as well as on gas. They have a wonderful niche that will just keep getting bigger as time goes on. This is definitely a mode of transportation that will keep growing in popularity.
Summary:
Many people are turning to gas scooters as a means of transportation due to the rise in fuel prices. They are lightweight and very maneuverable, which makes them attractive to women and people with physical limitations. They are very cost effective and trendy.
