Archive for the ‘Moped Gas Scooter’ Category

I have seen several popping up lately all over The Woodlands. I would like to buy one for myself and son to use around town. Especially after my last gas fill up.(OUCH!!) I have found some great deals online but am a bit leery to buy something without physically seeing and test driving at that price.

I bought an lime green electric one for my daughter on Ebay and it’s awesome. I paid about $1000 with shipping but it’s been about 2 years.

Is there any electric scooter or moped thats not like hellaaaa expensive? Like, less than 1000 dollars? I need one for me and my friend, because, we need to get around town (gas is like a bagillion dollars), and I have saved up cash and stuff but is there anything for 2 people thats cheapish? I know you can fit 2 people on an electric scooter but its all cramped and blahh. Also, I wouldn’t care if it was used, because all that’d do is bring down the price (yay). And, no gas ones, because that kills the environment even more than its already dead. :( By the way, I need one that doesn’t require a license :o
That’s pretty hard to find - you would need to look for a used one. Also, you need to check your state DMV to find out the local moped laws. In California, unless the moped goes no faster than 20 mph and has pedals, you need a license to ride it.

So first check on the moped laws of your state:

And if you’re okay to ride one, then look for a used electric moped. A good place to look is on Craig’s List.

I bought one for $1200 that goes 20 mph and 15 miles per charge, and I’m selling it used for $750. So that gives you an idea of prices.

with prices of gas im going to park my car and get a scooter or moped but cheap used one does anyone out there have one to sell

try ebay

I live in a downtown area where there are some hills. I’ve been looking for a good moped or scooter to get me to and from class and work, both about a mile away.

Should I go with electric or gas? What is the best model or company (in your opinion) to go with?
Wow. The ones people have been suggesting are rather beastly. I don’t need much, and I don’t want to spend much, either.

Research the craigslist > for sale > motorcycle listings for your region . . every state is different, but most require a motorcycle driver license, registration, and insurance for over 50cc/30mph.
A 49cc 4-stroke scooter may slow down to 5-10mph on hills (depending on the grade), so if you need to keep up with traffic a 150cc (or larger) size would be more suitable. It is usually illegal for motorized scooters to travel in bicycle lanes or on the sidewalk.
