On a street legal scooter with it’s own plates. 100,000 is about the time when most normal car owners will start shopping for a new car, what is is for a motor scooter?
I found one online and would like to drive it instead of my gas guzzling sedan. 100 miles on a quart of gasoline is better than any Prius I’ve seen…
It’s an Aprilia?
No scooter made is capable of going 100 miles on a quart of gas. 80-120mpg is more likely, which is still much better than any Prius.
800 miles is nothing, just the normal break-in unless it is Chinese. If it is Chinese, then even 0 miles is bad. They are utter crap and are best avoided.
EDIT- Aprilia is Italian, no worries. @Johhnnie… your friend’s scooter crapped out a 10,000 miles and we should somehow be reassured that it was a quality product ?!?

Warning Warning Warning
Watch out what type of Scooter your buying.
Vespa, Honda, Yamaha, are good scoots and 800 miles is nothing on them as for a Chinese made scooter half of it’s life is gone.
Today you can go and buy a new Vespa (or Honda or Yamaha) for around $3500 cash for a LX50 or you can buy a Chinese made 50 for $900 after a year the Vespa will still be running and the CM will be dead so you would need to buy another and after a year you got it more yard art. After 4 years you have a good running Vespa or four dead chinese scoots your choice.

Hey dont listen to these other people on here about the chinese stuff.
I have been a motorcycle mechanic and bought and sold tons of stuff on craigslist.
Heres the deal 800 miles on a scooter is nothing, my friend had a scooter that he bought in Guatamala brand new and drove it all the way to Peru 10,000 miles before his bike crapped out on him. And he absolutely abused the crap out of the thing litterally took it off jumps and ran it for long distances hours at a time at full throttle and it started to fall apart on him.
Here is the thing with chinese scooters yes they are extremely cheap and economical but you have to find a shop that will work on them. Secondly alot of them are sold new through crappy scooter stores who employ high school dropouts to put them together so check that all the nuts bolts everything are tight go around it and just check and tighten everything thats a major thing on them *not to the point of overtightening but you dont want anything loose for sure.
Secondly scooters although cheap and easy require a decent amount of maintence,
Majority of things I heard from people………chinese crap fell apart on me…..stupid chinese cant make anything good…. all there stuff falls apart etc………
Majority of things I saw were people not doing any kind of maintence on there chinese bike running it into the ground and then saying well its the 9 year old chinese boy who put it togethers fault, hate to say it but he has more skill than most of you morons……
You buy a nice honda you take care of it….. lasts long time
Buy a cheapo chinese scooter and dont take care of it…. lasts short time
800 miles is nothing……… but get the manual for the bike and check what it says…. the main thing on something like that…. is check that your bolts are tight……… clean your air filter and
MOST IMPORTANT
CHANGE THE OIL, most chinese bikes take one qt but check with what it says might be a little bit lower but change that ever 500 miles on those bikes, they arent made to run long distances being throttled all the way, but CHANGE the oil as frequently as possible and your bike will last alot longer….. theres no filter needed, all you need to do is do the drain plug and fill it back up very simple 2 minute job
Granted a chinese scooter wont last as long as a yamaha or a vespa etc but at a price like $500 to 800 is it really worth 2 to 3 times the price 1400-3000 for a name brand…. thats up to you yes better quality and part but how long til you get bored of this anyway?

I have seen Hondas with over 50K
I have seen Lambrettas, Cushmans and Vespas over 100K (I have one friend with a 57 Vespa with about 170K)

Totally nothing. If its a 50cc Aprilia, It’s worth 1500 to 3000 depending on condition and location.
Aprilias are some of the absolute best out there, and that’ll hit 8,000 and well beyond if you treat it well.
generally little motor scooters have a lifespan around 10,000 mi, but just like a good car can rack up 300,000, a good scoot’ll get you up past 30 grand (though you may never ride it that long, it’s hard to put even a thousand miles on a scooter in 1 year, I was riding 5 mi trips to work almost every day and was barely over a grand)

NO IT’S WAAAY TOO MUCH!
You can find a nice cheap scooter online. Make sure it has a decent warranty and somebody actually answers the phone when you call.
