I Have been wanting a 49cc gas scooter for a long time now. My grandpa and bike and moped sellers say they are bad because it’s hard to get the parts.. Other than the parts are hard to get, what else is bad about them

thanks:)

it will break & when it do you will have wished you would have bought a name brand scoot instead

WHAT ARE THE FASTEST GAS SCOOTERS IN TOP SPEED IM NOT REFERING TO THOSE MOTORCYCLE SCOOTERS?

well if you cant get a part then once it break you throw it away
and they all break kind of important if you cant fix it when it does

They aren’t well made so although they are cheap they aren’t worth it. Save up for a decent make, even if you have to get a 2nd hand one.

Here is a lesson on reading between the lines.
If parts are hard to obtain, then there is a need for parts because said parts readily break.
Seriously, don’t waste you money on a Chinese made scooter. Same is true of pocket bikes. Parts are poorly designed, poorly made, and use inferior materials during the manufacturing process.
That is the reason for the breakage. The parts break, and due to lack of parts, you ride sits in the garage collecting dust.
Save your money for a real motorcycle when you are of driving/riding age. Until then, ride a bicycle. Costs nothing to operate and will help you stay in shape.

Little or no quality control of the materials used in the manufacturing of the scooter. Little or no quality control used in the techniques and processes used to construct the scooters. And the manufacturers know the crap they build will be exported so they won’t have to deal with the fallout when - not if - those scooters go in the crapper.

No repair parts are available because the idea is that you ride it until it breaks, then you buy another one because they’re so cheap that the cost of replacement parts would be close to the cost of a new one.

Avoid those scooters like the plague. And stay away from those 50cc machines in the first place. They don’t have enough power to pull a greasy string out of a hog’s butt. Get something bigger - 150-500CC’s that will actually propel you at highway speed without running the guts out of it. Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki all build great scooters. INVEST your money in one of those instead of just SPENDING your money on some El Cheapo brand.

Adding to the parts unavailable issue, service manuals are unobtainable.
Repair manuals are required for troubleshooting electrical problems, testing electrical components, service specifications to measure parts to see if they are worn out and needing replacement, technical/intricate/inner workings of the engine.

Because the parts are nearly impossible to locate, no reputable repair shop will work on a Chinese scooter.
Like others have said - when it breaks, throw it out.

Most of the Chinese scooters and motorcycles use cloned engines, basically a copy of another company’s engine. almost all of the scooters use a rip off of the GY6 engine, getting parts wouldn’t be hard if you figure out what engine design was used. but honestly, i have seen 49cc cool sports scooters still in the crate for sale for under $700, so i personally wouldn’t put a lot of time or money into repairs when they can be replaced so cheap

They’re made in a human rights violating, communist country that pay (sometimes) about 16 cents an hour to a 10 yr. kid to work 10-12 hours a day 6 days a week. Ain’t that bad enough. I’m not counting all the Americans they killed in Korea and Vietnam.

You obviously did not listen to your relatives or the bike /moped sellers.
The cheap Chinese import bikes are rubbish and not even worth a second
look. They might look nice but they are badly made and not very reliable.
If you do buy one (god help you) you will experience problems with it in
    the not so distant future.

Save your money and buy a reasonably new japanese machine.
Much better build quality and more reliable too.
